If you know me then you know it would be hard for me to miss a wine festival, especially if they have 200 wineries and food available. We rode the Hop On Hop Off bus to Buda Castle where the festival was being held on it's grounds.
I had purchased tickets before we left Texas so when we arrived at the gate we were given a wine glass and a holder for it that went over your neck. Each glass of wine was about $2.00. Obviously you don'the try to taste all of them though I know friends in my wine club in Sun City that would try. My first wine was a cabernet blanc that was the best I have ever tasted. It was crystal clear.

We tried several more, me more of the dry red variety and Lynda her usual sweet whites. I was given a free glass by a young man whose credit card machine was not working so I drank it with the largest pulled pork sandwich in the world. I also was given a free glass of Reisling by a nice man who was part of the festival parade who carried a wine jug around with him. The traditional dress parade was beautiful with singers and music from ladies dressed in Hungarian costumes. This guy was having me test grappa, a drink I love in Italy.

After a couple of hours we left and went on another boat cruise. This time we felt better about Budapest and the day was a success. |
