PICTURES OF ST. VITUS CATHEDRAL
Beautiful stained glass windows like this one!
Back and front of the Cathedral.
The first night we ate a typical dinner. Mine was beef Gulyas with potato pancakes and a glass of pilsner from the place of course that invented it.
After that we drove the tram so we could see the city at night. Getting lost in the dark coming back was the worst but my unique sense of direction landed us just on the right street before our bladders burst. The worst thing is an almost 70 year old bladder.
The next morning, after a poor sleep due to jet lag, found us at the Prague Castle. This just not your ordinary 10 cent castle but one that contained the most beautiful church, St. Vitus Cathedral, a golden lane, a prison, a powder tower and many other castle things. There are some pictures from the Cathedral shown above.
The castle is filled with momentous of the past, dating back to the 9th century. It was once the seat of power for the Bohemian kings. This what it looks like from the other side of the river. You can see its enormity.
Inside is an area called the golden lane.
It is a series of old period homes and has
been recreated to show the life of the people
then.
With every good thing there is commercialism with gift shops and cafes abundant on the castle grounds.
My next post will highlight the rest of the Prague story.
