This is a sad day as it is our final full day in Italy, our adopted land. Tomorrow we drive to Lucerne Switzerland for two days. Our last days here were days of seeing our friends for the last time. Rosanna, Sergio, Andrea, Ugo, Michael and Liliana etc. have been so good to us.
Italy has been so good to us. The weather has been perfect, 70-80 degrees in the daytime and cool at night.
Today we explored the hilltop gem of Potenza Picena, not far from where we are staying. They have three beautiful churches dating back to the early 1100's.
They also have a lovely restaurant with a creative cook, Osteria del Vicolo.
After an antipasto plate of salami e frommagi
we ordered the primi, Lynda, a maccheronicini with a broccoli sauce
and I, a tagliatelle with chickpeas and mushrooms.
It felt great when the waitress asked us if we wanted the English menu and we turned it down. That is representative of how we feel our language skills have evolved. After a little wine we walked more of the town.
We found a beer bar that was interesting. Canadians and Sun City people would love this place; kegs for stools.
After viewing a 270 degree view
from the piazza we returned to our car. Lo and behold this gatto, cat, had taken up residence on the top of the car.
He didn't want to leave, allowed me to pet him and place him on safer ground. We don't want to leave either.
Arrivederci, Italia...mia amica!
